Back to what Michael said BRAKES, BRAKES, BRAKES, BRAKES, just because you can get it up to speed you still need to stop it. As much as I agree with Dick about using your head when you drive, others will not cut you any slack when driving. They will cut you short, cut in front of you, drive like fools to pass you on the right, pull in front of you you and stop.
Wind is your second problem, if you drive in high winds those small vechicles can be blown over along with the load.
By all means buy a trailer with braked on all wheels and keep them adjusted, must be adjusted regularly.

What I need is your advice. My tow vehicle is a 2004 GMC Envoy with the base twin cam straight six. The best that I can determine from the Envoy's manual is that it will not tow anything as heavy as an enclosed trailer with a Sting Ray. So, I will have to settle for an aluminum open trailer. I saw one that had a solid floor and a front piece that protected the car, even though it was an "open" trailer. Will a 16' open trailer be what I need? Anyone in the North Texas area have one for sale? I have ready cash! -Clark
      UPDATE:
I have just bought a 2005 Trailex SportsCar trailer. It is an all-aluminum 20' long, enclosed trailer. It is advertised by the manufacturer for all sports cars, like a Corvette Sting Ray. It is short in height, for cutting the wind and has a bow-shaped nose for same. And, it weighs (empty) about 2,000#.

I have changed the tow vehicle. Last year, when I began looking for a trailer, I had a 2004 Envoy XL with the 295 hp twin cam straight six engine with towing package. I now have a 2005 GMC Sierra full-size pickup truck with 5.3L V8 gas engine with towing package. I towed the empty trailer home last week, about 200 miles one way. The truck's mileage dropped from 19mpg to about 12mpg (empty trailer). Since the trailer did not come with tie-down straps, I have ordered some from Trailex for use with a Corvette. I am now looking forward to towing the car to NCRS meets. -Clark

Looks like a nice trailer and you have enough power to pull it now. Big trucks and attached trailers w/vettes are not known for mileage. If you are not towing every weekend, gas is just gas. Need to spend $$$ on something. Enjoy it.
