    Removing radiator support frame

Getting ready to install my rebuilt 427/M21 as a unit along with a new aluminum Direct Fit radiator and seal kit. I have been told it is best to assemble the radiator and shroud to the support frame as a unit, then place in the car after the engine and transmission have been installed.

I've searched the archives and still have a question. I need to roll the car outside to use the hoist and plan on using jack stands under the frame. Does anything need to be done prior to removing the radiator support frame in order to prevent cracking some fiberglass? Do the fenders or clip need to be supported? If so, how and where?

    Dennis,

as long as you front bumper is installed with all the correct brackets you will be fine. The bumper and brackets will support the nose.

But, it is not necessary to remove the support to R&R an engine and transmission.

That is what I thought. The only thing that I have removed is the inner bumper guard assemblies.

I understand it can be done, with a threaded rod-type engine leveler, possibly without removing the water pump, tilting the car forward on the jack stands, etc. But then the new radiator and shroud have to be installed...and I don't care to disconnect the upper control arm(s) after spending so much time restoring and installing them. I also don't want to run the risk of damaging the new tunnel insulation. The big block with manual transmission/fixed cross member make for a very tight fit.
