WOW!!! is my comment also. I would bet if this guy gets the $1500 on his "buy it now" we may see a couple more on ebay pretty soon!! I do agree with his assesment that this is a RARE NCRS collectable, but that seems a little high for me, as much as I would like to add one to my collection of stuff. Since starting this thread, I have found more information on them in some of the old Restorers I have (and love reading). Seems it was 1978 when they came out and sold out very quickly. I think at the National that year that was in Flint????

            Brian,

Has the NCRS released the copyright on the logo to someone to reproduce these Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Buckles?

            I think not!

Where did you get your information?

I would be curious to know that also. When I originally started this post, I wanted find out more about exactly when they were available, as I had thought this might be something that could possibly be used for some type of fund raising effort for the National Convention which my local (Michigan) chapter is hosting in 2011. My thoughts on this have changed a little, mostly due to when it was available. I do not know how feasible this is, but my thoughts now are it may still be something worth considering, possibly for the 50th Anniversary in 2013. My thoughts are something like this:
To reproduce this buckle, still in a limited quantity (300 like the earlier ones wold be a nice number), but as a 50th Anniversary item. Then maybe everyone who registers for the 50th Anniversary National event would receive a "raffle ticket" or something of this nature with their registration packet (or possibly sell the raffle tickets separately for fund raising). A raffle could be held at the event, where if your number was drawn you would then get an opportunity to purchase one of the "new" buckles for a predetermined price. The buckles would again be numbered, with the first going to the first ticket drawn (or possibly the last, in a reverse raffle type of format). I thought this was something that sounded like it could be done and give all members an opportunity to get one, and still make them limited and collectible, with all members getting a shot at possibly purchasing one.
Just a goofy idea, that would have to be refined, but I am certain we could find a suitable company to make them if we were to do something of this nature.
              Ken,
I am guessing that #125 is NOT your database??

While just re-reading through this whole post, I think it may be a fair assumption that the one on ebay IS NOT a reproduction being passed off as original, and is the real deal. If anyone else does the same I think it maybe fairly easy to determine who the ebay seller is.

I think a good number of us already know who the seller is and are familiar with his sense of humour. I certainly enjoy it.

Just in case nobody knows who the seller on e-bay is.

Look at the above name and number 1011. It is I!

And yes, if that's not real you can have my ZO-6 in it's place and John Amgwert will have to pay the tab.

About a reproduction of the buckle. Do we really need an American Icon made in China?

Many of the repro parts we now "enjoy" also come from China.

Why would this have to made in China? I have personally looked into making a few different reproduction items. I even have a source that has pestered me with "just giving me a print", and I can get you a great price on getting something made. I personally know some people in the manufacturing business that have been making bundles of money in the last 10 years, using this source. I would NEVER even consider this, as I have a pretty firm point of view concerning items manufactured in China and sold here. It is a shame some things are only available with the "Made in China" label. If our society would smarten up and quit buying it, things may change (including our own economy). Too many individuals are more concerned with saving $1, than putting someone out of work. On the other side of the equation is the employee that thinks they are worth $30/hour to sweep the floor. How can businesses compete with overseas operations who can get college educated people to work for $20K/year or less. I believe I could find a source for manufacturing the buckle in this thread in the good old USA, and most likely locally, and still be able to make it affordable. Just my two cents on the China comment. No offense intended.
