C2 Radio Reception-Static..."IN BETWEEN RADIO STATIONS"??

On a 1963 Corvette...is it normal to have "Static" when the radio is going "In Between Radio Stations" and NO STATIC when the radio is "At The Radio Station"?

I'm no radio expert, but could it be that the static is caused by the ignition of your own car ? Is all the shielding and ground straps in place ?

When you are on a station (let's say a strong one) the signal overrides the static.

How about when you are parked, engine off, playing the radio with the key turned to ACC ? Still got static between stations ?

Yes, I have static on AM in my '66 coupe between stations, but none on FM. I have all the shielding, straps, etc. as stock.

They all do it...nothing a little good-quality wax won't cure. I have been dying to use these phrases! Finally!

OK, to answer your question, FM was invented to eliminate the static that was endemic on AM stations. However, as long as you are not experiencing static when you are tuned to a station, what gives? -Clark
