Jim, if it is original I keep it, anything. There is great value in going back and seeing how any and all original parts looked and were made. you can find alot of repros but few originals.

Jim, my opinion, and I have to disagree with Steve's. If it was crap when you replaced it, why keep it, if it's not good enough for your car, chances are for no other also. Toss it! OK guys, the cans of worms is opened. Bill.- Top

I have a few boxes of old junk. It could be worth something in the States but sending it from Aussie land is just not worth it. I just can't bring myself to throw it. Stewy- Top

Re: Should i throw the old stuff out
The last major rehab I did on my 63 was in the mid-70's, and I still have all the old parts (within reason, i.e. no exhaust heat shields or pipes). I can't begin to tell you how many times I've gone back to look at one piece or another to refer to how the original should be - and this is not just for myself! I know it has happened a number of times right here on the TDB. Someone will ask a question about a coil or ballast resistor, or a hinge or bracket, etc. and I have gone out in the garage to look at an old original part so that, if nothing else, I can at least comment with something other than my old memory to back me up. This specially comes in handy when we are looking for correct part or casting numbers, or date codes, etc. To be honest, I'd love to have all the parts that were stolen from me, even if they were junk, for the same reasons I've mentioned.

Re: Should i throw the old stuff out
If you throw anything away, you will shortly need one of those items for something.
Then since you learned never to throw anything away again to avoid that situation in the future, you next pile will be larger and continue to grow.
Save some space and do not ever throw anything away.....................- Top

Re: Should i throw the old stuff out
When Dick referred to hate to admit RE: People buying ol' stuff. I'm that soldier. In 2006 while lightly restoring my ol 69 Z-28 X-77. It was a survivor. Found a guy in So. Colo. had houndstooth seat covers. Our interior was great but for the seats. Took em all and reapplied. I prefer an org. car as possible. So if you don't want in em future. Don't toss, you can sell to like minded buyers.- Top

Don't forget the atic also. The lighter parts can go up there.
Remember the law of available space, if the space is available you will find something to put in it.Dick Whittington- Top
