Holley carb rebuilders...

I had Jerry MacNeish rebuild/restore my Holley #3810 and I think he did a great job. I live only about a half hour's drive from his place, so I dropped it off at his house/shop.

He told me there that many carb rebuilder's only bench test the finished carbs while they are cold, with mineral spirits. He said further the only way to truly test the finished product is to bolt it on to an engine, hook up the fuel line and run it for a half hour until the carb is fully warmed up to check for leaks, performance etc. He has a small block Camaro that he has just for this purpose.

I think what he says makes sense...that once the carb is warmed up, the metal expands to the temp of normal driving conditions and gives him a lot better indication of how the rebuild came out and is performing. Comments? PT
