Re: 63 seat belt tag survey
Anyone else with pics of original unrestored 63 belt tags out there? I'm going to send a care package to Carlton on this. if you can't post the pics here, just email to me crisler@pixius.net
thanks,
tc
This is a photo of my unrestored early '64 (#347) seat belt tag. The belts in the car are '63-style belts, but I think they are likely original to the car.

Re: 63 seat belt tag survey
Thank you Todd, Those are late style belts for sure and I wouldn't be surprized if they did come originally in your car. With a VIN that low you are only 3-4 days into the 64 build. If I remember right you have other 63 piece parts as well on the car.

Re: 63 seat belt tag survey
Tracy,
Also see Seat Belt Webbing "63" which you may already have data from.
My post shows the "63" still on a Mar64 car, original stuff.- Top

Re: 63 seat belt tag survey
I have an early 63 car with vin.1004xx. At a recent judging meet I was shown the Judging Guide and correctly informed I had the wrong belt tags for my vin.number. Page 32 of the Guide shows two tags used for before and after vin.7000. My belts were just restored by a well respected man in New Jersey(he did a great job). I checked with him and he double checked and confirmed I have the correct tags. Mine read Model 10-51-198-1.
It only cost me a point in judging; but I am curious. I would like to know if there are some original tags out there. Do your tags read Model 771Cor-C,or Model 10-51-198-1 and is your vin. above or below 7000.
thank you
Bill
Carlton replied to my email on this topic and he is aware of the mix-up. I've also mentioned the 63/64 date issue on the 64 tags as a follow up to my initial email. Here is his responce on the 63 tag mix-up...

Tracy this has been identified and it was apparently reversed and no one caught it. it will be corrected in the next update.
Thanks for your note.

Re: 63 seat belt tag survey
Attached are pictures of my seat belts from my St. Louis built 1964 Corvette, serial #9258, assembled on January 18th 1964. The car has a red interior with the red-ish pink or corral colored seat belts. These are the original seat belts and tags that the car came with.

Re: 63 seat belt tag survey
I believe the belts on my blue 63 car (serial number 39xx) are original. They also look identical to pics posted by Tim Barbieri (below).
Someone has suggested to me that the tag "might not be correct", but I cannot see any problem when comparing it to the original one's from Tim's car, one that was built shortly after mine.
Can someone verify that these are good?Attached FilesMike

Re: 63 seat belt tag survey
The tag in your picture is correct for 63 Corvettes prior to approximate VIN 7000. The JG has the information switched. My picture depicts both early and late tags as well as examples of the current reproduction tags for both styles.

Re: 63 seat belt tag survey
I searched out this thread to look at a pic from Tracy Crisler, but the pic is gone. Tracy, can you post it again (or email it to me)?
By the way Tracy, you asked a question that I did not see, so I did not answer, so here goes a belated attempt (sorry): The font on the middle line on the back of my buckles is larger than the font used above and below, similar to that on shown in the pic of Todd's buckles.
Thanks,Mike
