I was fortunate enough to add these two brochures to my collection and I though some of you may appreciate seeing them. Biscayne was on the radar screen at GM in 1955. The 1955 Corvette brochure was one I had never seen before.

Re: 1955 Chevrolet Biscayne Brochure
GM had good taste not to go ahead with the "bug eye Sprite" look. But, I think the GM fender/parking light styling cue was later used for Riveria hidden head lights...didn't Riveria have a stacked vertical headlight assembly with "finned", vertical clam shell doors?
Softly in the back of my mind, I hear the Boss singing haunting lyrics of "My Home Town".- Top

Re: 1955 Chevrolet Biscayne Brochure
I don't see any grille opening behind the front vertical bars. It has a Corvair look to it also. I wonder if this is one of the first idea drawings for a future Corvair.
Yes the clam shell vertical headlights were used on mid 60s Rivs.

Re: 1955 Chevrolet Biscayne Brochure
Like a lot of collectors we aren't looking for anything specific, just things we don't have. I typically collect Corvette brochures (and thought I had most of them) but this one surfaced and I had never seen it before. I was also glad to get the 55 Corvette brochure as well. Never saw that one either. The Motorama and Experimental Corvette brochures are challenging too.- Top

Re: 1955 Chevrolet Biscayne Brochure
I wish I were more adept at posting pictures because I have one that I think is even more rare then the Biscayne brochure. It's an IMPALA Corvette brochure from the 1956 time frame. It is very similar to the Biscayne brochure, have you ever seen it?
BTW do you mind telling us what you had to give for the two brochures?- Top

I have never seen that Impala brochure. I bet it's a cool piece. If you can figure out how to post photos I'd love to see it.- Top

Re: 1955 Chevrolet Biscayne Brochure
Dave,
Neat brochure. I have a originals 55 (different from yours) and 56 that are one sheet folded to open and open again as a half page, the 55 is inside folded and the 56 is outside folded. Orange as yours on 55 and purple/pink on the 56. Both are 4 x 7 1/2 inches.
My 53 and 54 are double folded in same direction and still 4 x 7 1/2 inches. The 54's are different colors one orange other green.
The 55 says "New 195-h.p. Chevrolet Corvette V8"
"A brilliant new edition of America's most popular production sports car" on cover.
The 56 says "THE NEW CORVETTE BY CHEVROLET"
"Live, Lithe, Luxurious Action"
Another 56 is 5 1/2 x 11 inches w/ copper car.
Also have all others many multiple and different editions from 53 to 84. Not complete later stuff to 2000.
Original owners manuals complete 56 to 72 but missing 69.- Top

Thanks .
I believe 53 has 5 different brochures. All fold open in 1/3's. Two are similiar with one being yurquoise and the other being browm but both say "The thrilling new Chevrolet Corvette." The other three are virtually the same but came in three different colors; red, green. brown.
The two 55 brochures that I was familiar with were the green and orange versions you describe and the "Live Lithe....." is 1956 as you say.
I just found a 53 Motorama brochure that I will photograph and post.- Top

Re: 1955 Chevrolet Biscayne Brochure
It's a little more complicated that. It is stapled to two 8x10 black and white photos of said car and I would prefer to not un-staple them as they were originally in this configuration. But I will give it some consideration and we'll see how much of a weenie I am!!!- Top

If you want to wait, bring them to the meeting in a few weeks. I can scan them and post them if you don't have a scanner.
