I have a 68 Corvette and I need to replace the control arm bushings. The service manual shows two GM tools (upper: 5-7052-2 and lower: J 7052-1) that are used to keep from deforming the upper and lower control arms when pressing in a bushing. I plan on making the tools by cutting a 1.75 exhaust pipe in half. The problem is I don't know what lenght to make the tools. Can anyone with help out? The inside area of the control arms isn't completely flat. I really don't want to end up making scrap while trying to figure out the lenght.
Thanks......
