Because most Corvette you see are the same color it's great to see a rare color on any year , it draws you right to it like a fly to fly paper.

Sure, i'll see if a camera shot of the pictures work so it will be in color for all to see. They are very glossy so don't know how well it will turn out do to reflections. Also, I know VV will sell one copy to non subscribers or I.ll do one better; you can have mine. Just send me a PM if you want it. BTW. there is also a Tech Service Bullentin on 55 Directional Signal Failures. Roy, as proud of your car as I know you are, you really will want this original issue as a keepsake instead of copies. It's very nicely shown at the start of article.

Most of these cars were ordered by the dealer and sold off the lot. The dealer picked the colors for many reasons, which of course would have included those colors which were popular. The Black Book is only going to give you the production numbers, i.e. what the dealer ordered and does'nt reflect the personal preferences of many of the customers. Some people selected colors that may not have been thier favorite because that was all that the dealer had and they did'nt want to wait, or the dealer was making them a good deal on that particular car.

As for me, I like all of the colors. Sure, White is a little plain and Saddle Tan is too brown, and Copper...well, sorry Roy.

That's ok back then it must have not been vary popular, most people I meet and surprising many Corvette people ask me why I changed the color not knowing it's original. I'm one of those people back then in 1955 that would like the copper color , that makes me one of only 15 people that did.

You're right, Roy. It's good to see the rare colors. It provides some variety. The point that you made about preferences changing over time is dead on. I recall Chrysler offereing so many different shades of brown during the 60's and early 70's and figured that thier demographic was older and just did'nt like to wash thier cars very often, but shades of brown and gold were popular during that time. My mother's living room was always brown and gold, and the furniture stores were full of those colors.

I always had odd ball color cars like my 57 imperial, 52 hard top chevy, 67 Lynndale , so just call me ODD.

I love the 59-60 Caddy in Persian sands colour. It's also a soft pink colour that was very popular. (Saying I like pink does that sound like I bat for the other side) Stewy

So Stewy, I'm not going with the original Silver on the 59 Caddy that I'm working on right now. I was going to go with an off-white. Should I paint it Persian Sands instead?

I you had a Persian Sands colored car in Sydney you wouldn't be able to see it!

All caddies before 1961 look awesome in any colour Paul. If it were mine I would opt for the easiest colour to maintain. White ! The cars are so big you don't want to become a slave to your duco. By the time you finish cleaning it it would need cleaning again. This was the nicest Caddy I have ever seen the photos don't do it justice. Diamond black

Paul to me nothing compares to a black car. But they are a nightmare to keep. They show dust before your finish detailing them. They have to have an enormous amount of body work on them to pull of that black car look. The Caddy I posted was actually done by the owner and he told me he wouldn't of attempted it unless he had 30 years experience in panel beating and spray painting. It was razor sharp no filler used all metal filed. I looked at the car from 2 feet for about 1/2 an hour the guy who owned it thought and new I was an idiot. But I couldn't find one imperfection. I offered him 70 k for it and he laughed at me. Elvis would of wanted this one be he couldn't buy it either if he was alive it was not for sale. Magnificent !!!!

No Stewart, it makes you sound secure enough to say you like pink. This is a good quality in a guy.
