What do you guys recommend to use as a steering gear lubricant? I am rebuilding a '62 steering box, and don't know what lube to use in it. Should I use chassis grease, or pour in some 80-90wt. gear lube?

Re: Steering gear lubricant
Thanks Larry- I have some Mobil 1 chassis grease, and I have used it in the spindle bearings of my '67. There is over 20,000 miles on those bearings, without a wimper from them. I was wondering if I should put some 80-90 wt. gear oil in the steering box, but as you suggested, I'll get on over to my local Chevy dealer, and buy some chassis grease.- Top
