Re: How do I tell the original interior colour of my C1
Stewy, Noland Adams and Roy Braatz wrote an article a long time ago about 58-60 having green crayon colors written on the bulkhead wall behind the trunk Division panel. Recall it was on the right hand side by the hinge spring? Maybe Roy or other folks will provide more info for you. Gary....NCRS Texas Chapter

There is overspray under the carpet that may give it away. On my '59, you could see where the radio block-off plate was set on the floor and sprayed (plate red, interior panels white).- Top

The exterior panel colour has always been an easy find but the interior colour has me baffled. Was the steering column and bezel painted out of the car ? What was painted in the cabin interior colour that I could inspect ! Stewy- Top

Look for overspray in areas of the console, above and below. The floorboard sometimes shows overspray at the base of the console. If the car has had a few repaints, you may need to strip the paint until you get to the bottom coat.David Dawdy- Top

Stewy, unless someone stripped all of the interior paint there should be signs of original paint near the instruments, steering column, hub, etc. Try scrapping or rubbing to the original paint.

Here's a picture of the red console overspray on the white body color of my '59. I think this is the only place where there would be red paint over the white if your car had a radio. The radio block-off plate was sprayed on the floor of the car if your car didn't have a radio.Attached Files- Top
