What is the hardest to get part?

Seeing that C1 hard to get parts list makes one wonder what is the hardest to get Vette part? I would put those P01 (first design) wheel covers for the 68 up there.

Dale, real - original 5 1/2" RPO 276 wheels and original real airbox units for '57's. And then there's the Julio Blue Air Filter and 1st run 4 speed T10's. Gary....

70 first design exhaust tips sure aren't plentiful. Trust me.

Gary as long as we are listing the part what would the cost (app) be? Seems like I saw a 63 Z06 fiberglass 36.5 tank in the Driveline for about 20K.

I agree with Gary.In all the years that I have been involved in these cars which for me started in 1977.I have only seen 2 sets of rpo276 wheels for sale and 0 air boxes.I have had a couple '57 4speeds.Some times though it seems what ever I am working on at the time and in need of is the hardest part to get.

recent hard to find c-1 parts values: 57 t-10 7 1/2 to 10K. 57 fi air cleaner element went for 10K year or two ago. first design fi air cleaner assembly--probably 20 big ones. 15 x 5 1/2 wheels, 15K per 5. finned drums and backing plates sold for 7 1/2K for set of 4. 56 or 57 wonderbars complete 2K each. 57 single tower heads 3K per pair. mike

Re: What is the hardest to get part?

How about , the first real performance corvette parts, the 2 stud 56 exhaust manifolds, the right hand dipstick pan, tube and dipsick, the 725 dual quad intake, plus generator mounts and ignition shielding . These were all first Zora and rarely seen . Over 30 years and finally stumbled on an NOS dipstick. Even a blue washer bag is very diffucult to locate. There are many more parts of "unoptaniumn" on an early 56. These are by far the Hardest to get . I've owned many rare corvette and chevy parts over the years . I see what I had on "Ebay" occasionally but very very rarely the parts I mentioned for a 56 first design . The first designs have been overlooked because of the impossible parts to restore them. You can bogus a 57 4 speed car, a fuelie and even a 67 big block but you can't bogus the real original Hi perf Corvette, the first design 56's!

Jim, several "real" 2 bolt exhaust manifolds and heat risers this year at Carlisle. Looked at them pretty closely. Hate to tell you what I sold a NOS Julio Blue Air Filter in a box for a couple of years ago. It would make the Z06 gas tank look cheap. Gary....

I saw an NOS '57 Wonderbar radio still in the original box a while back in Hemmings. No price given. PT

Gary, I saw one set , that was brought there for me. Thats the set I told you about when I met you and your lovely bride. I must be getting old , because I sure didn't see any others that Friday and I did the grounds twice thanks to the traffic. Who had them?

Jim, there were two sets. Can't remember where. Bet, Marilyn Heitzman will get a kick out of the bride reference. It was nice to meet you. Hope the info on the '56 Owner's Manual helped. If you're going to Marlboro we can have two original 56 owner's manuals there for you to see and compare. A 1st and 2nd edition real ones. Send me an e-mail gchesnut@charter.net and let me know. Best, Gary....

After some of the previously mentioned parts, these would probably be considered commonplace, but I looked for over 10 yrs.to find a R/H exhaust manifold for a 62-65 FI. (a REAL one that is)

                              Joe,

I think there's a certain PCV valve that comes to mind.
