I resemble that remark. I have a high school reunion this evening and tomorrow. I won't tell you how many though, but it is a lot.

Roy Warshawsky had an outstanding collection of classic cars. My job (although I didn't work for his) got me access to that collection from time to time.

The company is now located in Western Illinois along Interstate 80 at the intersection of I39 and I80 in LaSalle Illinois.

I bought a restored 4296 Holley from CC about 8 or 9 years ago. It was delivered in a timely fashion, was beautiful and worked flawlessly. After hearing all these stories I realize God does look out for idiots because he surely had my six on this one.

Growing up in Chicago Warshawsky's was an institution. I didn't go there often, but when I needed a connecting rod and piston for a '41 Chevy pickup that was the only place within the state that had it in stock!

I have also bought three items from Al and there were issues with two of them, but with a little pressure things worked out fine. The business dealings remind me of a classic junk yard or salvage business; be on your toes, know what you should get, and what the price should be, and you'll be fine. And if not make sure you still have large southern European relatives living in Chicago that you can threaten to have stop by...

                Hi Paul,

I recently bought one of your rebuilt original 107 coils for my fuelie from a seller on ebay. Could you describe what goes into rebuilding one? I understand you are the only man doing this work.

Just a point of correction in case I am understanding you correctly. Goat Hill Classics (aka Paul Baker) is not, as far as I know, either associated with Chicago Corvette or a by-gone aka for same. It does seem that a lot of folks have reported problems with both Chicago Corvette and Goat Hill Classics but I don't think those two firms are connected in any way. They're even geographically far-separated. Chicago Corvette is located in the suburban Chicago area and Goat Hill Classics is located in Long Beach, California.

By the way, does anyone know if Al Fierke still actually owns and operates Chicago Corvette? When I have seen their booth at various shows I've been to in the last few years I have not seen him there.
My understanding is he is still the man there. Can you blame him for not showing up anywhere, even with all the "free" monies donated over the years he would most likely have a hard time affording the suit of armor and enough body guards to be seen in a public forum where he is very likely to have a serious run in with an unhappy person from his past.

Being a newcomer and a bit green under the collar, I am reviewing many companies on the web to buy from. You don't get the true story of businesses until you join a great club like the NCRS and read about past experiences, either positive and negative. I have just started my '77 project and know price isn't everything, it's the service that goes along with it that is the real seller. I'd rather pay more for service than less for BS.
Thanks for the info, I will scratch them off my list

                      Mike,
With all the bad press Chicago Corvette has gotten over the last several years it is amazing anybody that uses this board would take the chance and do business with them.
A simple check for you on a parts or service vendor is do a search in the archives. You will see the same indivduals and companies over and over.

I agree, I am not a long time member but have heard enough about Chicago corvette to stay away from them. I suspect we will continue to see these posts as long as they are in bussiness, some folks never learn. Tom

                          Re: Chicago Corvette

Back in the late 1990's when I was about 18-19 and had my first Corvette (a 71 LS-5), I would buy from the parts counter on a routine basis because they were about 20 miles from my home. One day I placed a phone order for calipers, and received one front caliper that had a massive casting defect that prevented it from being physically installed on the bracket. Should have been a very straighforward resolution. I took it back in person for an exchange and, oh boy, did we have an EXCHANGE.

Fortunately by that time the internet was becoming my primary tool for buying parts and I washed my hands of Chicago Corvette forever.

No one has much good to say about him, including one of his biggest suppliers.

So who is his biggest supplier?

                            Like kinds tend to attract.

Another trick is to look at the ebay bad comments and message those people, yikes! The third reply was enough for me.
Too bad eBay does not have a seller delete button so you do not see those like of results.

Buying a losing lottery ticket has a better return, at least you get a receipt!

Wow! Glad I found this thread. I was looking for an alternator on eBay and there he was with several I could use, and he said he could restore and ship quickly. Caveat emptor, thanks for these comments, you may have saved me money and headaches.
