Re: Seat track rear bolts
No offense intended Joe, but we have heard that story before
Are you offering test drives? Is that why Patrick has a trip planned? Hmmm. Sounds like fun.
Ken,
If I use your term "butt rash" do I have to credit you? I really like that term -- although I am convinced the damage comes from belts or belt loops on blue (or any other color) jeans. Even the bolsters on C6 seats take a beating from this, and I avoid wearing blue jeans in the new car. We will see if that does any good.Terry- Top

I've just promised him that I'm going to come out and see it with my own eyes once he has it done. Maybe I'll even take him out to the Sardine Factory to celebrate, but don't tell him.No offense intended Joe, but we have heard that story before

My 72 has the lovely scraping along the driver's outer bolster. Based on the observation of the previous owner, the side of someone's backside may also have an influence on the amount of "butt rash" to which a seat is afflicted. Apparenly owner #3 was no lightweight.
And I am also excessively careful with my C6's seat.

Re: Seat track rear bolts
Pat,
Given your chosen calling, perhaps you should undertake the research to determine if the size (side??) of the posterior has a direct relationship to the quantity of "butt rash" on the early C3 seat upholstery.
If Joe gets his 1969 in driving condition we should have a celebration at The Sardine Factory. I am up for that. Of course he could get even with us by getting it together in the middle of winter. That way we would have to fly out and miss the Road Trip.Terry- Top

Re: Seat track rear bolts
Given his location I'm not worried about whether or not he will be able to give rides, or whether snow will be a factor. His favorite drive, after all, is Death Valley.Pat,

When I go, I'm flying. I love to drive, but my wife prefers I use my vacation with her when I can.

Re: Seat track rear bolts
Vive la difference!
For me the best (well almost) part of the 5500 miles to and from Convention this Summer was the three days coming back -- right after Oak Creek Canyon between Flagstaff and Sedona, and HWY 1/101 into Monterey from the south.Terry- Top

Re: Seat track rear bolts
Patrick------
You better be. A lot of GM cars, and I believe Corvette included, only use leather on the SEATING SURFACES. The other parts of the seat are VINYL COVERED CLOTH and it's usually WAY more "chintzy" than the vinyl upholstery was in days-of-old. You will find that these VINYL COVERED CLOTH portions of the seats are VERY, VERY easily damaged. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Seat track rear bolts
I just drive my new Corvettes and when they need tires I trade them for a new one.2001-2004-2009-2010 maybe 20K allready. I will check the bolsters on my 09 as I wear what I have on and don't take any special care in how I enter or leave the seat. The 2010's were at Carlisle as they allways are.Lyle

Re: Seat track rear bolts
BTW, not as good as a full left-to-right swap is a 'hybrid' swap...
That's where you pull both seats, remove the seat backs, swap the backs left to right with respect to the lower cushions and then exchange the position of the seats!- Top

Re: Seat track rear bolts
Before I do that I may as well go "British" and just swap the steering wheel and pedals and shift left handed

Re: Seat track rear bolts
British???? Where did you get that?
There are no prohibitions in the UK regarding LH drive cars running on public highways... Vehicles frequently enter the UK from Europe where the convention is LH drive.
Those in the UK who want RH drive Covettes typically have the conversion done in either Australia or New Zealand where they DO have import/useage restrictions on RH vs. LH drive.
The going rate is around $80K, and up, for a decent 'mirror' image, government recognized, conversion. Methinks removing four bolts/screws from a seat back and its retaining latch doesn't 'quite' approach that level of complexity! But, hey, that's your call, amigo...- Top
