Re: Alternator
Rich, 1100628 37A should be the number. Be careful as the passenger car had the same number except they are physically different. The passenger car alternator had a round hole in the back to attach a clip that held the harness. The Corvette alternator had all rectangular openings, no hole for a clip. Also, best I can recall all the identification info like date code was in the same area as the 1100628. On my 63 my alternator is dated 3 weeks prior to the car build date.
Good luck.

Re: Alternator
Richard,
Not to steal Harry's thunder but the early 628's including passenger car has the rectangular holes without a hole for the wire harness attachment plug. Early alternator's also have the part # and date stamped on the back half flat area, not behind the adjustment bolt like typical mid 63-up alternators.
I can post a pic later if you need one. Look in the archives for discussion and in the JG for the changover time frame.- Top
