    Bent Fan Blade

    Hey there - was out driving my '69 L36 last weekend when I heard what I thought was a broken belt hitting the underside of my hood. Turns out on further inspection that one of the blades of the fan somehow got bent and was rubbing against the radiator! It is dog-eared about the last 1/3rd of the blade and is bent toward the radiator. I'm guessing some form of debris must have been kicked-up into it? Anyone had this happen to them before?

    Well now I have a weekend project on my hands. I'm going to start with the obvious symptom first and replace the fan and go from there. Any helpful tips I should know about replacing it?

    Thanks in advance for any advice and help...got to get her back on the road before Summer ends!

      Rob, If it's not bent to bad try to straighten it and reuse.

          Tim,
          My concerns with a bent fan blade and any attempt to straighten it would be: 1) Balance 2) Fatigue. Just my .02

              I would NOT straighten a fan blade! Like already stated, the fatigue where the blade is bent could lead to a crack, ultimately sending a blade thru the hood.

                  Take a close look at the water pump and fan clutch while your in there. If it's been out of balance for a while you could have more issues.
