getting ready to install the A and B pillar weather strip. both appear to fit pretty snug into the stainless trim pieces. I'm wondering if I really need to glue these or can I get by without?

I believe the instructions specifically say not to use any adhesive at those locations.- Top

Hi Jim,
I'm surprised at Michael's report.
In 71 both those WS pieces had the famous yellow goop on the backside in the SS trim piece they fit into.

Re: 69 weather strip install
I stand corrected. After reviewing the AIM and my car the W/S is glued to the channel. The upper most piece of the A pillar is not glued to the whidshield header. The 68-72 has a hinged piece that is glued and screwed to the forward door jam area. The B pillar is also glued in.
One other note. If you are using the 68-E69 B-pillar W/S you might need to glue the lower horizontal portion too. Mine kept catching on the door and bending up. A little spot of sealer took care of it. 2nd and 3rd versions didn't have this little horizontal piece.Last edited by Michael B.; August 5, 2009, 12:21 AM.- Top

Re: 69 weather strip install
Hi Mike,
Thanks so much for your second post. I was afraid I might be on very thin ice.
I checked my originals and was pretty sure what I was seeing, so I wondered if it was 'change' by year. As 'leaky' as some cars are I'd think the weather strip installation was something St. Louis paid attention to.
