    Re: C-3 Trailing Arm Removal

    Chris,

Thanks for the advice. I have been spraying them down. From all of the replies, I now have hope of getting the bolts out without needing to saw the car in half!
When I do get them out I plan on sending them to Bairs. Do you remember their turn-around time on the work? And is the $350.00 per side cost include new spindles?

    Thanks, David

I think you only have two choices and that is Blairs and Vansteel. Both have web sites, so you may be able to get a pretty good idea from that.

        Re: C-3 Trailing Arm Removal

        Dave,

My T/A's took a couple weeks, but I told them I was not in a hurry. The rebuild does not include new spindles. My arms were rusted so I ended up paying $150 x 2 more for new used arms. Then there's the original Delco backing plate, $30 x 2 to replate. This was by far the biggest expenditure so far in my restoration.

On the brighter side, I dropped off my t/a's in person in Linesville and met Brian and Ed. They took my t/a's apart while I waited and then gave me a tour of the shop. Very good people to deal with and they did a great job.

Bairs does good work and will treat you right but don't think and old rusted set of ams will get done for $349. a side. If you hane bad spindles and arms expect the cost to go up as it should. They can't make a silk purse out of a bears ear.

Trailing arm rebuilding by www.bairs.com probably has the most experience in rebuilding trailing arms. I have used Bairs to return my spindles to the original condition of having the brake disc rivetted to the spindle and trued.

They're definately top notch. Especially sending you shipping containers for the arms. I was pleased enough that I'm letting them restore my Front Spindles and rotors as well.

There's enough to worry about with restoring these cars and sometimes it's best to let the Pro's do some of it.

Trailing Arms is definately one example.

                    A-arm bushings is another.
