ok, now can I get a little help with a few things that I have in question.

although it's installed what is the correct finish on the below? I blasted it then gave it a light spray of primer..just didn't think it should be black so left it.

heard it both ways so thought I would take a picture..is this fitting supposed to be natural or painted orange?

ok one last thing..is this screw correct for the bracket that goes around the coil? with my new coil installed it seems a bit short, and looks to be a self starting screw, is that correct?

    thanks for any help!

Clutch bar (also known as Z-bar) should be silver colored plate -- probably zinc.

You have heard that heater hose fitting both ways because depending on engine and year of car it can be either way -- painted or zinc plate. I did some AIM research for small blocks recently, but the subject of that thread wasn't boat anchors so I don't know for your case. Best some others with real original BB chime in.

That is the right coil bracket screw and there can be a lot of reasons the coil is too fat -- repro coil, or phoney baloney cover over the coil, and I think newer coils may just be fatter (as we age we all get that way -- well almost all of us. ). I am seeing this problem and a lot of creative "solutions" more and more. None of the "solutions" I have seen are good ones.

That paint job sure looks pretty.

        thanks!

as far as the coil I ordered a new delco remy 287 I think is the number..it fits just as tight as the original, so ya the original was just as a tight of fit.

I guess thats just the way it is, I just thought maybe someone put the wrong screw on it.
