Noland is absolutely incorrect. He also says, among other incorrect items, that the brake drums came without anit-squeak springs around them. He simply misunderstood that they, at a certain point, no longer spelled them out, because they came installed from the supplier instead of being installed at the factory. I wouldn't recommend taking brake springs off based on Noland's book. As one who has owned 28 62's, including several low-mile cars, and early cars and late cars, I can assure you that they came with flame arrestors. Did I walk every one down the line at St. Louis? No. Were flame arrestors standard on 62's? yes.

      Mike,
