    Froze Adjuster Seat Belt Repair

I had a 67 & a 70 Corvette that the seat belts were froze up because of rust. The cars are drivers & I just wanted lap belts that would adjust. The 70 was easy I used a screwdriver & pooped the cover off & wire brushed the rust off. The 67 was harder because there was no easy way to get the latch apart. I squirted Kroil & let it soak. I kept working the webbing till it broke lose. Both belts would adjust but it was still very hard to do. I sprayed 100% silicone spray on the serrated adjuster rod & they worked better than new. Its a cheap fix.

Thanks for the tip Ken. I wonder if the Kroil may have damaged the belts. Bill.

      Ken,

Take a look at this thread on a 67 seat belt buckle restore:

      https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...73064&uid=8587

It is the last one below in the archived threads.

The first post is a draft of a Restorer story which was eventually published in 2006.

        Have fun,
I understand the right way to do it but what I did took less than a hour for both cars. I posted this as a quick fix to get the adjuster working without all the hassle.

Kroil did not hurt the webbing but make sure you clean the belts to get the Kroil out so it will not stain the clothes when you put them on.
