My car's original dealer just went under

RIP Southview Chevrolet. One lonely little black Impala on the back side of the dealer today. The back lot was rented out to the VW dealer next door, with a bunch of new Jettas parked there.

Southview Chevrolet started in South St. Paul, MN and then in 1970 moved to the current location in Inver Grove Heights, MN. Denny Hecker sold the dealership and the Wasler family bought it. It isn't clear if the Southview name will remain on the new dealership that takes its place or not.

My 71 was delivered by Harry Mann Chevrolet in South Los Angeles and I believe at the time was one of if not the largest Corvette dealer. I don't when they closed but must have been in the 70's or 80's. Ed

The dealer that sold my '67 new was Ideal Chevrolet in Hamlin, West Virginia. The place burnt to the ground in 1992 so I'm told, probably a torch job!

Southview Chevrolet dated back to at least the 1940's. I remember it being on Concord St South St Paul in 1950

Do you have any pictures of it at the South Saint Paul location? I couldn't find any online.

Have you attempted to locate the tank sheet on your car? Might get lucky and find the info you are seeking !!

Kenny, without the tank sticker or the ProtectoPlate on your car, it is going to be impossible to figure out who the original dealer was. You need some kind of paperwork that ties your car to the dealer. Without that, it is going to be tough.

Try the South St Paul historical society or the SSP library.

If memory serves it was located about 2-3 blocks north of Grand Ave on Concord St where the bowling alley is now.....

I was lucky enough that the previous owners of my car kept the window sticker. It was sold at Worthington Chevrolet in Sacremento. I did some online research and found that the dealership appears to be closed but that Cal Worthington was quite a showman in his commercials.

That's something that always seemed odd to me, wouldn't GM have records of the serial numbers they shipped to a dealer? Seems like it would just make sense but, then again no telling how long records were kept before being tossed.
