    Joe-Part number-1956 SR

Per the the RPO book the dual fan belts used on the 1956 SR production cars were 3737975. do you know the length and width of the belts? My parts man current records only show discontinued, without showing a successor number and a date.
    Thanks

GM #3737975 was not a belt, it was a belt UNIT. It consisted of 2 identical belts which were matched to be within 0.030" in length to be used on 2 belt pulley drive systems. The dimensions I have for these belts are 56" long and 3/8" wide. The 3737975 was discontinued from SERVICE in October, 1967 and replaced by GM #3887686 which was a belt UNIT with 2 matched belts which were 55-1/2" long and 3/8" wide.

John and Joe, found the 3737975 in 61 P&A but wasn't in '58. Didn't search in between P&A's. 56.07 inches long, use listed for Series 5 & 6 V/8 Trucks 56-8 generators. Gary....

Thanks for the information. What number would a NCRS judge expect to find on the individual belts. Guess I can throw away my new stencil for 3737975.
        Thanks

John, no knowledge of those belts whether they were embossed with a part number or not. Will check with some Tri-5 guys to see if they have any info. Gary....

I cannot find what number was on each of the belts. It's possible that it was 3737975 but that would be unusual.

Also, I doubt that a stencil would work even if the number is 3737975. Most of the "wrapped" construction belts of this era were embossed with the part number.

now days a lot of agricultural machine belts are a "wrapped" belt design as a lot of auto belts are the "cut" design type
