Anyone know what time the last group on the tour arrived in NM?

The last group on the road tour (led by John in the yellow car) that took old Rt66 from Tulsa to OKC didn't get onto I-40 until about 3pm with about 400mi to go.
Does anyone know what time they made it to the motel in NM, and if they all made it with no problems?
By the way, some person (from Tex---probably an anti-OU fan ) told them there wasn't anything worthwhile to see on old Rt66 and semi-discouraged them from taking Rt66. But in spite of this, the group seemed to REALLY enjoy the drive on old 66!

Tom, sorry they didn't drive ole route 66 from Tulsa west. Had been telling everyone that's probably the most continuous stretch of road. Goes through Stroud America and right by my Uncle's ole Dixie Inn Cafe in Wellston. There were only 3 from Texas and I had to take my '64 home due to problems. Heard this morning the Colorado guys were late getting in due to a traffic accident that shut the road down for a while. Gary....

There were about 8 cars that drove 66 Tulsa to OKC.
Another person (Ray) drove his 66 and I drove the 56 up to Tulsa from OKC and met the group at the Double Tree, and then led them down 66 and made a few stops on the way (which they thoroughly enjoyed!). I don't know who the guy was from Tex (it WASN'T you) that was somewhat discouraging about driving 66, but I told those who were interested in going that I had no clue where that guy got his information, because old 66 was MUCH MORE scenic than the Turnpike!

The downside (if there was one) is that the extra time on old 66 probably put that group into NM rather late last night. I was curious as to when they got to their motel.

Just one of the places we stopped (Chandler, OK) on old 66.

        Tom,
Is that a permanent billboard? Cool looking!!

        Rick

P.S. It is nice to see the old cars versus the new ones with every option available on the road tour.

That's a mural painted on the side of a building, 1 block south of the Chevy dealer in Chandler, on Rt66, which is also the main street through town.

Tom, I agree with you, that any drivable section of original route 66 is worthy of seeing, but maybe I'm biased as a fellow "Okie". Sorry I missed meeting you while you were in Tulsa.
My wife and I are following about a day behind the tour group, and catching as much of route 66 as possible.
Stopping in Albuquerque last evening for dinner, I caught this old "throw back" from the past (see pic).
Brings back fond, fond memmories of route 66 in the 1960s.

I passed some Corvettes Monday afternoon at Moriairty N.M. on I 40. It was about 3.30 PM. They were about 30 miles east of Albuq. One was a dark blue split window. I was exceeding the speed limit by a little so did not not notice the cars to much. A C-1 also but more late models with wives or girlfriends driving. D

That would NOT be the group that I was with on 66 between Tulsa-OKC, because they didn't get onto I-40 at OKC until about 3pm (unless of course, they had afterburners! ).

OK, Texas and NM are in the rear view mirror for all of us on the road tour. We lost Werner Myer, but everyone else is OK (Bad pun there). There have been some "issues," but with the help of many folks along the way all have been overcome.

We are playing in AZ today (Flagstaff last night) and Kingman tonight. Today is Grand Canyon day. Many of us enjoyed the sunset in Sedona from the Sedona Airport overlook last night. Overlooks the town, not the airport.

I am not sure of the Corvette count, but it is someplace close to 50, I think. We keep picking up folks at every overnight along the way, so it is hard to keep count. We are creating our own parade and traffic jam wherever we go.

Having fun with the 2009 NCRS Road Tour.

These are some family pictures of that group's fun along the way from Tulsa taken by my brother Ken.

                        enjoy. Dave

Was he driving the Stink Ray? Did that monster motor bust something?

Bill, Werner's Stinkray suffered damage in the parking garage last Sat night. Don't have anymore info than that. Gary....
