No, Steve you have the right place.

We all tend to make judgements here based on our understanding of the NCRS Judging principles, because that is the standard most of us go by. That standard is factory authenticity. If you wish to do something else with your car that is your choice, but you should tell us clearly that you have other goals. Even with that statement, some of us may not be able to adjust to a different mind set.

I wanted to let you know that your standards appear to be more strict than those of the organization. Nothing wrong with that. Many here have the same standards. Often the harshest critic of the car is the owner. Under the best of circumstances the owner should know more about the car than the judges, thus the owner can be more critical. The judge has a limited time to "learn" what the car has to tell him or her. The owner has had, in most cases, years to get to know the car.

Steven there is just a chance that you could find a build/order copy sheet stuck up in the dash on the drivers side or behind the radio. Both places are where I found the build/order sheets on my original owner 68 and 70.

I have the day off but have had new doors installed in my house this morning; my plan was to pull the motor while the doors were being put in but my lazy wife is still asleep and I ended up having to watch the kids all morning, now it's too hot!

Even though that's all true; it's kind of haha, I'll didn't want to wake her because she never gets to sleep in.

Yes I will be tearing down and searching the interior; but the motor is coming out first, I only lack the bell housing bolts, starter, and motor mounts. I should have that done today or in the morning and will start on the dash right after that.

Since it would appear that no one has ever considered the fact an M21 could not come with the ZQ3; or at least the people on the forum, I'm still in search of official assurance but it looks solid to me at this point.
Anyone coming to Tulsa tomorrow and would be interested in an on spot inspection and opinion; I am very willing to accommodate that.

1AM and the motor is out and nearly tore down.

            No surprises per say.

3970010 block cast in 73, no stamp on pad, have not checked the deck height yet to see if it has been decked, 3927186 heads on both sides, fresh build, flat 4 valve relief probaby forged pistons, 4 bolt main, 11 inch clutch to match the 11 inch cast bell housing number I could see before tear down.

The was one thing I'm not real sure about; each head had 3812 stamped on the accessory bolt pad, does that mean anything?

              Steven -

Most likely a rebuilder's ID code.

Maybe an RO number; was my first thought, but you never know.

Hey, something that should be real easy.

My 73 454 had a crazy oil pan on it with all kinds of baffles and things; I think it was probably the original pan, and a very interesting one at that. Does the L46 have a pan with baffles in it as well; or anykind of splash pans or what not bolting up in the cap area?

Terry -- I'm no C3 person, but just thought I'd add these 2 pics. First one is of Denver Zone office letter, advising delay in N14 until November. This was reprinted in Dec 1992 Vette Vues, and Jim Prather mentioned 11,500 VIN as possibly the earliest sidepipe car [mind you, this was 14 years ago].

Second pic is of a 25-year old yours truly, at Place Bonaventure annual new car show, in Montreal Quebec, either after Xmas 1968 but more likely in the first two weeks of January 1969 [Quebec chapter members may corroborate]. Shows the sidepipes, but might have been rushed for car show exposure.
