I picked up an old 283 engine on Friday. It was a giveaway. Block is a late 60 #519, dated L280. Won't work for my June car. Trading stock. Anyway, the harmonic balancer is pressed on with no threads in crank to hold on balancer. The only cast number on this crank is 218. Is this an earlier crank? Shouldn't a 60 crank have a threaded hole on the end of it's crank for a bolt to help retain it's balancer? If I remember correctly, my 57 had a pressed on balancer. No bolt. My 60 was a 270HP originally, and will be again. Also, The waterpump number is a 3859328 dated F118. Where was this pump used? Heads are late 462624. Dated D29 and C298. Are these 78-79 heads? Boatanchors? Only problem is, I got rid of my boat years ago. If anyone can decipher these numbers, Thanks. Joe Lucia where are you?
