Re: Trim and Vin mistakes
Desscrepancies also occurred with "newer Corvettes". I have a white 1986 convertible with a trim tag (service parts label) that shows medium blue metallic. After receiving signed documents by the original owner and delivering dealer attesting to the white color, I asked General Motors how this could happen. Surprisingly, they answered by saying that in early years of C-4 production, service parts labels were batch printed up to 5 days in advance of production. If any production changes occurred in the interim, a new label should be generated but there is a chance that it may not have been. After obtaining a build sheet, it was confirmed that the car was originally painted white. Since the build sheet is the document used to build the car, it is most likely of all documents to be correct.
