I want to run a 427-435 saturday and adjust everything before the body goes back on, I have been told there is a oil additive I must use in the older engins to keep the cam from wiping out, there is somthing missing in todays oil that the EPA had removed, anybody know if this is true?

Re: Starting up 67 427 engine
Donald,
If you are starting the motor up with a new cam shaft you have to run the motor for 20 mins. at 1800 - 2000 RPMs to break the cam in. If you start the motor up with the new cam and don't put heat into it, you'll knock the lobes.
John
PS: GM makes a oil E.O.S. assembly lube, has that zinc stuff in it.- Top
