The JG has a description of where to find the logo and a picture also.

      Reba
Thanks so much for the information. Does anybody manufacture this logo on new carpet today ?

Romeo Engineering has a reproduction carpet that contains the IMCO mark on the heel pad, but it is too deep and easily detectable as a reproduction. Others have posted complaining of long wait times for their order to be filled, but I am not sure if that is a constant issue or was just for a while. I do believe they advertise in The Driveline.

As Terry has said, the repro logo is easily detected. Interior judges will take the same deduction for the repro logo as they will for its absence.

Another issue is the "tabbed" notches at the top of carpet across the rear wall. The JG depicts how the carpet should be cut and bound there; most are straight across with lots of excess material in the corners. I have judged a couple that had it done correctly, but don't know who made it. A frequent poster on this board was working to get Knoch to do this correctly, but I don't know where it stands. Perhaps he will comment.

Thanks Reba. I have indeed been working with Al Knoch on improving his pads. To date, I've provided known-original samples of '70-'71 and '72 heel pads for A. Knoch to use as models for new tools. I'm not sure if this is the same pad for '68/9, '73+ or not.

When I spoke to Mr. Knoch last week, he has them and is planning to make new tooling, and the product should end up looking more like his floor mats than his current heel/dimmer pads. Today, he makes a heel and dimmer pad by fusing a piece of convertible window mtl to the back side of (pre-grained) door panel material. This is to build up the o/all thickness, but it makes for a poor reproduction. Frankly, the IMCO logo is so light in original pads, I'm not sure they will transfer when new tools are made. We'll see.

Al has the samples and told me that he hasn't yet started to work on the tooling, but he says he will soon. I didn't ask him for a target completion date. I figured I'd give him another few weeks or a month and check again. He really seems like he wants to improve his product. I just don't know if it's practical to expect an exact replication or not. Regardless, I hope/think if he re-tools and makes them like his floor mats, we'll have a big improvement.

Thank you, Don, for taking the lead on this. We have talked for years about the need for this change but did nothing.
