    1972 Vehicle Certification Label

Did the different options on a car change the gross weights on the 1972 blue certification label?
    Thanks.

      Roy,
My 1972 LT-1 with a/c, ps, pb, no pw, TT and deluxe interior (if that makes a difference). weighs in @:
      GVWR - 4010
      front - 1890
      rear - 2120

      Wow! 100 lb difference.

Bryan, I also have the tilt/tele option and the deluxe interior as well, so the only difference I can see is the addition of the A/C in your car.

Yes the options changed the weights shown on the label -- but not all the options made those changes. Body style, engine, transmission and AC all changed the weights. I believe PS, PB, PW did not.

            Roy,
Do you still have the original front coil spring ID label on your car? If so,
Do you know the letter code?

              Terry,
Just trying to add all the pieces together.

Bryan, while I still have the original coil springs, the ID labels have long departed. This is a quote from the technical manual
"Original front springs had a green paper tag with black lettering giving a two letter broadcast code and the GM part number in black.Service replacement springs have a yellow plastic tag with the GM part number in black. It is not allways possible to see the spring tags because they are sometimes too far into the frame cover"

                Engine - 350
Sprung Load under 720, spring part#3931823, spring code HS
Sprung Load over 720, spring part #3931824, spring code HT

                  Roy,
I crawled under the car and took a pic of the passenger side front coil spring. From your description they look like originals.

The GVW was not added until about Jan. 1972, corvettes with a previous build date only displays a VIN# and build date on the blue label, I think this applies to all GM vehicles as well. Steve
