You're the man, Roy!
I only hope that someday I know about 20% of what you've already forgotten about these old Corvettes we both love.
All kidding aside, God bless you for the tremendous support you have for our hobby, not to mention the help, and education you have given us junior members. Hope to see you at the national convention.

Re: C1 gas cap WOW $$$
Haha thats one of the things I checked on our 58 before we bought it. These cars can be pricey..
The only part besides the original engine my 58 lacks is the original hood the 1st owner put a high rise on it and wow the 58 hoods are really high for an original.
not sure what I'll do on that go repo or bite the bullet.- Top

Re: C1 gas cap WOW $$$
In the last few months I have only just realized my cap is original. It is so easy to leave it at the gas station or someone might knock it off. For $400 bucks I better get a repo and store my original one away.
The prices for original C1 parts is bloody crazy ! I see people looking at 20k C1's thinking they can restore these things. Let me tell you they are in for a big shock. Nothing on these things are cheap it's cheaper to go buy gold ! Anything original is expensive. Even if it's not a fuely, correct dual carb setups will cost 4k even a radio and speaker system will cost you close to 2k with an original matching antenna. I'm glad my car has come with most original gear.
Surely there must be a ceiling on how dear these things can get. Oh I forgot how about an original jack and winder over 2k. What recession !! Stewy- Top

Re: C1 gas cap WOW $$$
Oh I just bought an original oil pan for a 65 Mustang and an original 60 Corvette. Ford Mussy $25, Chev Corvette $350. That means I could of bought 14 Mustang oil pans to one Corvette ?
I drive my Corvette to work most days, I'm now starting to think it's not a good idea. If it gets hit I'll end up in the mental asylum. Stewy- Top

Re: C1 gas cap WOW $$$
The C1's were the start of the whole thing! They are really old now and pricey as they should be. I am going out to my garage now and checking my gas cap. Thanks for the heads-up.

Re: C1 gas cap WOW $$$
I have difficulty understanding this whole thing.
My 56 has good doors, good hood, good trunk lid, good top cover, good hardtop, good & complete soft top, straight body, ALL trim and chrome, all gauges and clock----that work, working 56 Wonderbar, 56 wheels, 56 wheel covers.
BUT, the whole car isn't worth crap because it has lots of chrome, SB400 with a Bill Thomas modified FI, Airbox, Muncie and a 3.08 posi. Go figure!!!
Consequently, the car won't even Third Flight, plus, all you purists turn your noses up at it.
Oh ya, I do still have the complete 2x4s on the shelf in a plastic bag-------been there 25+yrs!- Top
