Patrick, if you want a "Gothic Sans Serif" type style, keep looking.
That is what is in most computer programs; ex.: Arial is one or like this one on the TDB.

Tub on my July '66 build date car has the stamp

I can't remember the date on my tub, but my '66, built July 20 '66 has the
exact same blurry white stamping.

Patrick, I have restored 40+ tubs. Date stamps have been found on less than 10% of the tubs. Some lids have dates. Mike's description of the stamp characters is accurate. The paint application is very sloppy and hard to read in many cases. I hope this helps.

I was just checking my spare tire tub today, after reading your Restorer article "C2 and C3 Tire Tub Fix" (Spring, 2008). Mine has the typical broken edges, and I'll try a mold-repair according to the instructions in your article.

I knew the spare tire Tub itself had a white date stamp of Jan 6, 1967, but today I discovered that the cover or lid was dated also, stamped in white just below the raised part number (19146) near the point where the two steel support beams join to form a "V". That date stamp is not as clear as the one on the Tub bottom, and appears to be in a different format. It's kind of blurred or smudged, but it looks like it says 12 01 66 (the "66" being the clearest numbers when seen in person) in the same white paint-type stamp (except for the format change) as was used on the the inside of the Tub.

It looks as if the date stamp on the cover/lid may have been applied before the "V" reinforcement brace was riveted in.

The car is number 07873, with a build date of January 11, 1967.

Does anyone else have a similar date-format stamped on the spare tire tub cover? It seems odd that a different date format stamp would be used for tubs and lids.

Scott, I have worked on over 100 tub/lids sets. About 10% have stamped dated dates. The damages to your tub and lid are common. I have the molds to repair the damaged areas. I will be at the national in Charlotte and Corvettes of Carlisle.
