T-10 4th Gear Removal

Greetings. I have the main shaft assy on the bench with the forward snap ring removed but the syncronizer spline will not slide forward off the shaft. It appears to be contacting the forward groove area where the snap ring rests. Is removal of the syncro and 4th gear toward the forward end of the shaft? Thanks, Dan

Dan, Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think the syncro will tap off with a block of wood, make sure you keep it square when tapping. The next gear (Third) will also remove from the front.

Occasionally a press is required, I use a samm one from Harbor freight and have never either broken anything nor found a trans that would not disassemble with that pursuasion.

Thanks! I opted for a rubber mallet which was handy and coaxed it apart. Now to buy a real set of snap ring pliers.
