Just wondering if anyone has added power steering to a mid year small block car that didn't originally have it. If you did the installation yourself, how difficult was the installation and was it worth the trouble and expense.

Re: Power steering
Lincoln, I added p/s to my '66 many years ago and yes, it's worth it. I found a complete system from a wrecked '64, replaced the rubber lines, rebuilt the pump, added a new cylinder and have never regreted the move. Very little trouble and I got a good deal on the parts.
I have heard of owners using a non-Corvette valve body (which has less spring pressure) that have not been happy with the result. See what others on this site have to say. Good luck, Bill- Top

Re: Power steering
Lincoln, I added a 1968 passenger car PS( U-Pull it) to my 67 in the mid 70's. I saved all the original parts relacing every thing but the pitman arm. The passenger system works fine for my use. Email me I have pictures. Dale- Top

Re: Power steering
Bill, thanks for you input to my question on adding p/s to a 66. I am assuming that there are aftermarket systems available as well as original equipment. Sounds like you are an advocate for O/E. I appreciate your comments. Thanks again.
