    New Z06/L88/LT1 Corvette Book

After completing my first L-88 Corvette racing book, I am now starting a second book project that concentrates on high performance street driven Chevrolets and Corvettes.

This book will contain a wide variety of Chevrolet models such as COPOs, Corvettes, and other low production hi-performance Chevrolet models.
I am planning to make this book smaller than my first one which was over 400 pages. My goal for this second book is around 120 pages.
This should bring the cost down to around $35.00 retail price for a full color hardbound book.

Would you like to have your car photographed for this book??

Here is a list of high performance Chevrolet models that I am in search of:

    1957 Black Widow Chevrolet
    1957 Fuelie Corvette
    1960 Le Mans Corvette
    1963 Z06
    1963 Z/11 Impala
    1965 396 Corvette
    1965 Z/16 Chevelle
    1967 L-88 Corvette
    1967 Z/28 Camaro
    1967,1968 Yenko Camaro
    1968 L-88 Corvette
    1968 COPO Nova
    1969 COPO Camaro
    1969 COPO Chevelle
    1969 Z/28 JL-8 Camaro
    1969 L-88 Corvette
    1970 LS-6 Chevelle SS454
    1970 ZR-1 Corvette
    1971 LS-6 Corvette
    1972 LT-1 Corvette
    1974 454 Corvette
    1975-77 Greenwood Sebring GT Corvette
    1978 Greenwood Turbo Corvette
    1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette
    1978 Indy Pace Car Corvette
    1987 Callaway Corvette
1990-91 Hi-Speed Callaway (Optional Body Panels)
    1990 ZR-1
    1996 Corvette Grand Sport
    C5 Z06 Corvette
    C6 Z06
    2009 ZR-1

This is just a tentative list, but it covers all the heavy hitters. Honorable mentions will be seriously considered, such as Showroom Stock Corvettes and other very low production models.

I will be photographing cars in May, June and July 2009. Arrangements can be made for photo shoots at Bloomington Gold in June. Cities such as Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Kansas City, Minneapolis, and other Midwestern areas will receive the primary attention first. Locations more distant from the Midwest will be secondary.

If you have one of these models and would like to be considered for inclusion into this book, please write me back with the following information:

    Year and Model,
    Your Name,
    Address and Location,
and which weekends would be most convenient for having your car photographed.

I am going to try to use the Memorial Day Weekend for my first batch of photos.

    Peter,

I would be interested in providing you with correct and accurate information on the 1971 LS6 Corvette. I currently have two original examples. The LS6 engine option for the 1971 model Corvette has been written up in several magazines and books, however the information garnered has never been completely accurate. It would be nice to have a book which reflects the history of this rare option fully and completely, which has never been the case. It certainly deserves it.

You are calling a 72 LT-1 and a 74 454 Corvettes heavy hitters? I will look forward to the book. Ed

I listed the '74 454 only because it was the last of the big blocks and was historically significant only for that. The '72 LT-1 was listed as the last of the solid lifters.

I'd suggest that unless you're thinking 72 LT-1 with AC, I'd go for a 70 LT-1. It's the better car if you're truly thinking performance.

Patrick, you're right. I really would prefer a '70 ZR-1 LT-1 Corvette. The photos that I took of a silver '70 ZR-1 date back to 1979/1980. It had Illinois plates that read "ZR1". I was hoping to take more current hi-res digital photos of that car if someone could point me in the right direction. Same goes for the '72 LT-1 with air conditioning.

Peter I understand and did not mean to slam you. I have a 71 LT-1 that is origional and pretty hot. The 4.11 makes the difference in performance with the high RPM capability like 13.92 at 103 mph in the quarter totally stock with an inexperienced driver (me) first time out.The ZR-1 offered no more HP than the standard LT-1 but was set up for road track handling and braking. I've already sold a ton of my L-88 book. I thought a lower priced book would have a greater appeal to a broader audience. There's a bunch of stuff that I wanted to discuss in my L-88 book, but didn't have any more space.

This new book will tie all the loose ends together. Pete

Tom, Tune in to radioamerica.org Saturday at 4 PM central time. I will be on Road & Track radio talking about my first L-88 Corvette book. Ed Justice Jr. is the host and he really likes my book. I'm going to try to plug the NCRS while I'm on the air and promote my new second book as well. You need to tune in. This is going to be really fun!

                          "High performance Chevrolets"?????
Just out of simple curiosity, why are the 56 SR1s and 57 "Airbox" cars being omitted?
And other than the Z11, no solid lifter, tri-power W motor cars?
                          Just curious.

Actually, I have already made arrangements to include a '56 SR-1, since I convered them in my "Corvette Racing Legends" edition. I didn't list one since I had contacted one owner already.

I am open to suggestions on other rare Chevrolets. I just didn't want to make the list too long to begin with.
