Pat, You can pour some concrete with me, http://www.marcucciconcrete.com/
I did that in college - do you think I'll get the hang of it again 20 years later?

Re: When is a "survivor" no longer a "survivor"?
It's hard to drive a 42 year old, 100% original Corvette, with 42 year old hoses, wiring, etc. Maybe a couple slow laps on a race track, but,......not the 1,000 to 2,500 miles per year I put on my vintage cars.
No excuses, however.
My mistake for letting my sensitivity speak out.

No apology needed, your input on this board is just as valuable as anyone else. You are passionate about these old cars and I enjoy the conversation. Whether restored or original, the cars we are talking about have lasted for 40 +/- years. Strategically we have 2 fronts; how we preserve these cars for the next 40 years and how we protect the hobby from the invasion of counterfeiters. Thanks...

Re: When is a "survivor" no longer a "survivor"?
I work in a small Corvette restoration shop that does mainly total body-off restorations. We currently have a client with a one-owner true survivor 1969 convertible. It has had the engine rebuilt at some time and some minor "hot-rod" add-ons that need to be corrected, but the paint is mostly original, the interior has never been touched and the chrome is all original. The owner wants the car "freshened up" with new carpet, new seat covers, and a new engine wiring harness. Just how far should we go to make the car road worthy and safe, but retain the "survivor" designation?

I have a well maintained mostly original car that I think I'll leave alone. I too would love an over the top restoration, and have the skill and experience to do so, but the car I bought is too good for that (according to this article). Besides a paint job, a few hop up parts (I have all the stock parts) and a luggage rack, this car is stock.- Top
