68 427 not sure which are the right radiator hoses they're different ones for the 427

car is a 68 with a l36 427 390hp 4sp...the build date is D07 on the car.

with that said what are the correct upper and lower radiator hoses off paragons site for it some say 2nd design etc...

my dad ordered these for it:
2376UPPER RADIATOR HOSE-UPPER RADIATOR HOSE1$27.00$27.00
1737LOWER RADIATOR HOSE-LOWER RADIATOR HOSE#3882826 & GM LO1$30.00$30.00


but he's bad about not researching anything and clicking on the first thing that mentions 68 427....so no clue if he ordered the correct ones or not.

can anyone give me a little help here?

as far as lower hose one on their site says: Lower radiator hose w/ reinforcement spring, all w/427 exc. H.D., #3921908 and GM logo

another says:
Lower radiator hose with reinforcement spring, #3882826 and GM logo. 1966-67 All w/427. 1968 w/H.D. 427. (this is the one he ordered)

as far as upper hose goes one says: Upper radiator hose, #3947866, w/427, 2nd design. (this is the one he ordered)

another says: well NVM I don't think they have more than one style of upper hose for a 427.......so he must have ordered the right upper one for sure.

but which do I need the 1st or the 2nd design on both upper and lower..

just want to be ready to send them back if they're not what we need.

btw what is "1968 w/H.D. 427"?

what is HD 427? I assume HD is heavy duty and maybe that means l88 or something?

I suspect that the first design is not available. What's out there now in reproduction is the second design.

Yes, 427 HD usually means L88.

that wouldn't be the right one then would it? since it says for 1968 with HD 427...

and he should have ordered the one that says "Lower radiator hose w/ reinforcement spring, all w/427 exc. H.D., #3921908 and GM logo"

because to me that says for all 427's EXCEPT HD ..right?

You need upper radiator hose GM #3921906 (early) or GM #3947866 (late). Neither of these are available from GM. I don't know what the Paragon number is for them. Also, I don't know when the change took place in part numbers. However, I expect it was quite late in the model year.

The lower hose was GM #3921908. It's no longer available from GM, either.

Thanks Joe! I'll send the lower one back and order the correc 2182 one.

on the upper guess I'll send it back too and just start looking for one that has the correct GM part number in white letters on it for the 1st design..
