    67 Decals, stickers and stamps

It's been awhile since I have looked in the judging manual but I didn't remember seeing a section covering decals, stickers or stamps that are judged. I know of course the Vin tag and paint/trim plate but outside of that what other decals, stickers or stamps are judged? I see on here and Ebay from time to time about different stickers but can't remember seeing a list anywhere. I know most the vendors sell a variety but what is correct? I got a radiator from Dewitt's and it has the foil sticker and I believe the number 16 stamped on it. I have a 327/300 with PS. What other decals or stamps would I need to be correct? Thanks in advance for any input.

Henry, one that comes to mind, is the GM Mark of Excellance that is on both doors, just above the latch, get the foil one. Center it about in the middle 1/4 in above the top screw. Bill.

Henry, another thought, look in the Ecklers, LIC or Corvette Central cats, they show all the decals for a year and engine. Bill.

In general, the NCRS JG books describe stickers & labels in the individual sections where they put at the factory. None of the books has a section dedicated to stickers & labels.

Plus, restorers often purchase reproduction stickers & labels then ask exactly where they're supposed to be affixed. In general, there's no correct answer as these were hand affixed and the exact position/orientation depended on the human factors aspects of that particular assembler/that particular day...

            Jack,
When I restored my 67 last year I tried to mark in the judging manual with a yellow highlighter when it mentioned what fasteners to use. Now I wish I'd done that with the decals and stamps also. What got me thinking about these (besides the weather getting nicer and closer to Corvette weather) was a few days ago someone asked about shock stickers. I wasn't sure how accurate the vendors (LIC, Eckler's, Volunteer and CC) were on the decals. I have an original jack board (I believe) but unfortunately it is original to a 63-66 Corvette. It has the earlier style jack sticker and not the 67 one. There is only about 2/3 of it there and according to the new one (67) I got from LIC the new one is quite abit smaller than the original. I also only have about 1/2 of the posi sticker. Thanks for your input Jack. I learned from restoring the 67 the knowledge on this board is priceless. Take care, Henry

              Henry,
If it is of any help, here is a pic of my original jack board.

Thanks Rick, That did help. The replacement jacking instructions I got from LIC looks about the same in size and content as yours does. The one on my board now (even though about a third of it is missing) is about twice that size. And the replacement differential sheet from LIC looks about like yours also. Thanks again! Henry

                  Shooter,

Here's my jack board from a 67/327/300 4sp with positraction, to compare with Rick's:

I have my decals covered in clear plastic. Note the different positions from Rick's. I think it depended upon whether you had a left handed or right handed installer

I have one extra carpet tag though. I found it under the passenger side carpet when I removed my original carpets. Rather then separate it from the car, I pasted it on the jack board.

                  Regards,

I can't remember from your previous posts, do you have PB? Mine is a 327/300/4 speed with positraction and also has PB. I think there is a tag that slides onto the fitting on the PB booster before you clamp on the hose.

I've seen where some of the decals on the board were moved around some but didn't think of the left hand/right hand scenario. Thanks for the picture! Shooter

Sorry Shooter, I don't have PB so I don't know.

Interesting on the differences from my car to Jerry's for the jack board. I believe we are 200-300 cars apart.

Henry, For some reason there are subtle differences between original and repop stickers. The jacking instruction sheet has different fonts in part of the verbage. Same goes for the positraction sticker.

                            Thanks Stephen,

If I know the new ones instead of just looking "new" they seem to have other differences also. I just wasn't sure how close judges looked at stickers and decals, especially the ones under the hood.

Hi Henry and other mid year owners

Here is a pic of Original door stickers. Repops are not the same. I can't really remember but it has to do with the border and color...maybe something else.

Also is the foil sticker for the Rad. Repops I think have a heavier letters and not so fine. Also the extension of the sentence is off on the repops. But there is a difference.

Put these pics in your files and compare.

                              Hope this helps.
                              Thanks, Grant
