Re: only 1 corvette !!!
Only one Corvette is not surprizing to me.
But how about the fact that most of the people (75 %) on the Auto Industry Advisory Board drive foreign cars....
Another questionable decision by the "Change Administration".- Top

Re: only 1 corvette !!!
This list is really no different than the make up of auto ownership around the country. If there was a top heavy run of American cars in this list, it would show that Detroit should not have any problems. In fact, the lack of American cars is really just magnified of the larger problem with Detroit. The foreign cars outnumber the American ones. However, two points. Some of these cars are made in the southern U.S. (Honda and Toyota) so they are at least buying American produced cars. And I would hope that any presidential administration, whether Dem or Rep. would not hire department heads solely based on what they drive. Making the claim that it isn't "change" because these 50+ year old people don't all drive home-grown Detroit cars is just simply ridiculous! What is more noticeable is the lack of true "luxury" cars, like Mercedes, Jags and the like. These are government people living on government salaries.- Top

If you want to keep your money in the USA - your purchasing decision should be based more on the American Content than where a company's headquarters is located.- Top

Re: only 1 corvette !!!
Please explain "American OWNED Car Companies" - all these companies are public and the owner's live all over the world. I own GM stock and my Nephew owns Toyota stock - what is the difference? Look up the American Content of all cars - some Toyotas have a greater American Content than the "American" cars.

Presently, there is roughly 3 billion, 400 million outstanding shares of Toyota stock.
The top three stock holders of record are (1) The Master Trust Bank of Japan, LTD. , (2) Japan Trustee Services Bank of Japan, LTD,. (3) Toyota Industries Corporation. These three concerns alone control close to 700,000,000 shares. Most experts say a hostile takeover of Toyota is an impossibility, as Toyota owns 23% of their own common stock.
If an American investor would invest $1,000,000.00 (one million US dollars) in Toyota ADRs, at yesterdays low bid price of a few cents over $61 dollars per share, the investor would own roughly 16,393 shares.
Toyota pays dividends semiannually.
In fiscal year 2008, Toyota paid a cash dividend of $2.58 per ADR.
Your one million dollar investment MAY pay you $42,295.08 in dividends (if the dividend isn’t cut, as rumored).
You can do the math yourself, if you only owned 1,000 shares, or say,…100 shares, what your divdend would be..
Overwhelmingly, Toyota profits are going back to Japan. How much money? For the 2007 business year ending in March 2008, Toyota had a record net profit of 1.7 trillion yen (or about $17 billion).
Today’s profits at Toyota only rank behind a couple major oil companies, as the largest on earth. A far cry from Toyota’s early days manufacturing military trucks for the Imperial Japanese Army, during WWII.
Now, back to Corvettes. I received another email days ago, offering a price deduction, if I would purchase a base model, 2009 Corvette.
