I have been looking for NOS tires for my 68 coupe but no luck todate. I have found one tire about 2 months ago, but I need all five. I might break down soon and get a repop set in the meantime. Does anyone know if there are difference between the different companies out there (Example Coker, vintage tire..) that I should pay attention too or are they repops all the same for the most part. Any advise if appreciated. Thank Jeff

I agree with Dick. The Kelsey Goodyear reproductions are, without a doubt, the closest thing to originals you can get. The Coker Firestones are near perfect, too. Unfortunately, they're near-perfect for OTHER cars of the period and NOT Corvettes. For Corvettes, they're only "somewhat similar" to the original tires.
As far as NOS tires go, unless your plan is to have the car be STRICTLY a "trailer queen", FORGET NOS tires. I would never use them on a car that was even driven on an occasional basis. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: NOS Tires
Joe
Thanks. I am going to called on Monday to see if they have what I am looking for. I have the original tank sticker believe or not and the car came with Red lines, which I really like. The car also came with the wire wheel hub caps. In looking at Kelsey Goodyear website I could tell if they have red lines, I know coker does, but I do not want to loss points over the wrong tire. Thank for your input

Re: NOS Tires
Jeff,
Do not purchase Coker tires unless you want a large point deduction. They do not have the correct number of treads on their repo redline tires. I went with Kelsey Redline tires with my '68. You should see the correct ones (F-70-15) on their website at http://www.kelseytire.com/pages/preformancetires.html Also, if your '68 was built in December '67 or later in '68, you can have the DOT mark on the tire without any point deduction.

Re: NOS Tires
Thanks Terry. Kelsey is the way to go. I already emailed them to get the ball rolling. I been down the road before with coker thats why I posted my question. The point deduction is painful, been there done it. Thanks.- Top

Buy the Kelsey's. They are the most accurate (and safe) replication of the originals anywhere.Bill Clupper #618- Top
