Best/Safest Way to Mount 67 Trim Rings and Centers

I am going to have my tires mounted first, but after that I need to mount my 67 four clip trim rings and centers. What is the best way to do this without damaging the rings and centers. I just had the trim rings restored and don't want to damage them. Thanks.

For the center caps, I use my hands. For the trim rings, I use a terry cloth towel and a rubber mallet and hit it at each clip.

Kirk, that's the way. TIP put a towel on the floor in case one pops off. Bill.

Ok, lets lok at it from the other end. What is the best way to remove the center caps without damaging the stainless trim or the freshly painted wheel?

          Lynn
pull the centers off with your fingers.

a screw driver wrapped in paper towel, pry in center of each trim ring clip

I'm coming up on my 40th anniversery of owning rally wheel equipped Chevrolets.
I agree 100%, if one CAN,...pull the center cap off with fingers, that's the best approach. I have found a few that simply won't play along.
Here is a photo of the best tool I've personally found to remove both center caps, and trim rings. It's made by Ken Tool, and usually found for sale in either collector car parts catalogs, and some large auto parts stores.
I use masking tape on tool edges, on freshly painted rally wheels, when removing center caps.
This tool is carried in my trunk/storage bins, and is a must for possible flat tires. It's rather inexpensive.
I highly recommend this tool. Ridge
