    Generator Arm Trivia C1

I've talked in the past how numbers don't concern me when buying parts. This is a one example of a part having the same part# but each being different in design . The top pic. Is 55 to early 58 arm where the generator is mounted on the left side , bottom is the generator arm used on the right side. Notice they have the same part# in bossed in them . I see the second design used many times on restored 55 to 57 Corvettes thinking it's correct by the numbers..

You see I do like other's then just a 55 Corvette

    Roy -

    Don't know about '55, but '56-'57 used P/N 3704884 brace.

Should the brace for my 59 have a stamped part number as well? What number should it be for a 59?

It's similar to the red one above, but I don't have one lying around - photo below shows the top end if you look closely (I don't have the car any more). When they're painted wrong (orange) on a '57 they show up better.

I knew I had one somewhere - here's one on the '57 fuelie chassis at Kissimmee; shows the correct shape (appears to be slightly less bend than the ones in your photos), but, as usual, painted wrong.

John, like I mention both pic's you show is the the arm I show un-painted which was used for 55 to early 58 ONLY ,the generator that IS on the left side. The red arm is 58 up. You agree?

I just want it to be correct as possible... I'm also lookign ahead, because I probably won't be done restoring this thign for 3-5 years and maybe they'll redo the JG for 58-60 by then. What with all these TDB postings telling people what's correct, I'm sure it will be in there :P

                            Gosh, thanks a lot Roy!

It's always the goal to improve the JM , I think many posting here by many members help those that come to this sight , weather it reaches the people that write the JM I don't know. That's what's so great about this forum being able to post pic's ,but remember what I or others post is their opinion and may not be the consensus of all members .
So take what I post as a grain of salt
