Re: '63 L84 intake manifold orange overspray

Would silver paint between an aluminum intake and aluminum valve covers be the same for a C1? I am restoring the top halef of my engine and just replaced an after market manifold and was just about to paint this space orange.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Dennis

      Good question.
Recall that the engine is a 66, not 63.
I "think" we did it as per original examples but it's been several years so I don't remember if the lack of color is an originality thing or an owner- inspired "cleanup."

        Rob,
It is my understanding that the upper waterpump elbow and bypass hose
were in place at time of engine paint application and should therefore show some overspray. On the big blocks they used a small cover to mask the curved part of the bypass hose during painting. (That left roughly the clamped area on each end exposed/painted.) However I don't know if a similar procedure was used on small blocks.
