11:1 domed pistons in a '55? Not hardly - they were 8:1.

The domes are not GM either (don't look like that). Oh well, it's from Downers Grove, Illinois so you can expect anything from there. I had my carb,. fan clutch, starter and WW motor stolen by the famous Corvette shop there.

I asked the guy about the pistons and here is the reply;

Hi,the only # on the pistons is L2148,std. which I think means left side
hole 2,1,4,or 8. No # on rods. I had another ebay member who is a #'s
matching guy do research on this package before I listed it. The pistons
that go with the heads and cam that came out of the same engine are 11-1 pistons according to his books. He bought an exhaust manifold from me for a 57 that had correct # and date code. This guy knows his stuff and is building a #'s matching 57. Thats all I can tell you. I know all these
parts came out of the same engine because it was my engine and my car and I was 20 I'm 61 now. I hope this helps. If you live close enough come and take a look. Thanks-Bill

By any chance, were the piston domes facing the inside of the cylinder bores? Ah yes, I remember those 55's myself. They were the ones that came apart all by themselves. Does the rear cam bearing have a notch in it - oh, never mind.
