    WOW!

c3 Vette's are down. At Auction anyway.

Another 69 L71 just went across the block. And there was no doubting it's quality. Very nice Gold/Black L71 roadster.

    $55K for a tri-power roadster.

Yea, I'd have to hope to need a really big hole in the ground when my time comes. I'd rather just hope that somebody will still be able to enjoy them regardless of their value when I can no longer.

Is this indictitive of the market, or a fluke with an extremely lucky bidder?

If this is what the market's bearing I made a foolish mistake buying and restoring this smallblock.

        WOW.
I was in the front row on stage, nice car

I gave up on my 68 and 72 to being worth no more than bringing a smile on my face when I put the hammer down and row through the gears. Drive on!

This car was purchased by the seller at a Mecum Sale last spring for $52K. He tried all summer/fall to sell the car on Ebay and other venues.

            He lost a smooth $10K!

By the way, Corvettes and all cars were UP big time on Friday night. Time & Placement is everything at an auction!

What ever one thinks about the spectacle at the B-J auction, if nothing else it sure is entertaining. I think the announcing crew is doing a pretty good job; Mike Joy, Bob Varsha and Rick De Bruel (?) sure know a lot about all the brands and are open to accepting viewer clarifications. They are real car guys.

i like the secret bidders on the phone when things are not going well in the bidding. reggie jackson must not have had a secret bidder on the phone because he did not look too happy when his ZL-1 camaro went cheap compared to what they used to bring

What's surprising is how far the Hemi prices have dropped. 69 Hemi Roadrunner - $65K, 70 Hemi Cuda - $130K. These were numbers matching, not "recreation cars". 2 years ago they would have been well over $250K each.

I am surprised at the shark car prices, mid year cars seem to be holding up well in my opinion.. The hemi cars look like there are off 50% from the past, should I say OUCH!!

But then again would you have paid 250-300,000 for a car you really did not like in high school!! or how about that guy that paid 1.3 million for the 70 LS6 chevelle two years ago, real smart collector loosing his investors money throwing it around like nothing..

That's why my cars and NCRS is a hobby for me, I enjoy learning and working on corvettes. Clubs like NCRS shine at times like this and they shine at Barrett Jackson if you notice..

Sorry to rant, it's early and I am up with coffee!!

That wasn't Reggie's car - it USED to be his car; he sold it several years ago. It's also a "re-body" - only the VIN plate and cowl tag are original.

                            John,
                            That's still cheap for a ZL1 ,
Did GM ever COPO iron L88's into Camaro's ??
                            or other cars ?
                            regards Tom

Nope - just iron-head L-72's in Camaros (COPO 9561) and Novas, most of which went to Yenko and Baldwin/Motion.

How about Jack Douglas Chevrolet in Hinsdale, Illinois? I lived a block from their candy store and they used to be heavily involved with the specials, but get very little notarity.
