67 Non-DOT Whitewall - Does It Have to be 5/8"?

Where all the whitewall tires 5/8" for all the brands of tires that were originally installed in 67? Just wondering as it seems I can find 1" and 3/4" whitewalls in the correct tire size, but 5/8" are hard to come by. The Tech Guide only states 5/8". Are any other whitewall sizes accepted by NCRS judges for model year 1967? Thanks.

Thanks. Got four of those coming, but I was looking for an original Non-DOT tire to put in the spare.

        Kirk:

Old RESTORER articles indicate 5/8 inch whitewall is the correct size. If you have an otherwise correct, non-DOT tire with a 3/4 inch whitewall, you might get past some of the judges some of the time.

However, a 1 inch wide whitewall .....no way.

            Kirk,
current judging standards allow full credit for a spare of Typical Factory Production, which in this case does not have to match the four on the ground.
So, if you are lucky enough to find an original "Redline" or "Black wall" worth the money, you might consider snapping it up for full credit until you locate your 5/8" WW.

If anyone knows of a readily available radial tire with a 5/8 in white wall, please share the brand and model no with us. I have been unsuccessful in my search for such a tire to use for driving purposes.

              Thank you,

              Randy

                Randy,

Diamondback makes a 5/8" ww radial. I almost bought those instead of the bia plys.

Diamond Back will make you radial whitewalls with any width whitewall you want, positioned any distance from the rim that you want.
