As for enforcing participation standards, it's really not that tough. As a forum monitor of other sites, the rules were real simple; violate the posting policy once - you received a warning. Do it again and ALL your site privileges were revoked.[/quote]
the problem you have here is that this is a closed site and the posters pay for the site so taking away their posting privileges would not work. you can delete the posts but taking away the poster privileges would be tough. JMHO. i am not a lawyer is just play one on the internet.

After a certain point you would have to revoke their rights, whether they pay for NCRS membership or not. For example, say you are a "Sam's Club" or "Costco" wholesale warehouse member. You've paid a membership fee, but I don't think anyone can agree that a member of costco should be able to verbally abuse other costco members on store premises. They would end up having their memberhsip revoked. If an NCRS member got into an altercation at an NCRS event, that member would be kicked out of the event, and maybe membership revoked. Same applies to this board. If someone repeatedly verbally abuses someone, or wantonly abuses the board rules, you kick them after x number of warnings. I think most people would agree that's reasonable.

Yes, to new forum, I like as many catagorys as possible. Search ability would be valuable as well. I wonder if this is financially possible ??

If I had to guess, traffic on this board has probably doubled or tripled since the new format went on line? Many thanks to all those who have contributed their time/efforts - this board is a joy to read.

With all due respect I could not disagree more. Your membership in the NCRS does NOT give you license to abuse the policies of usage for this site. You may not remember it, but you agreed to abide by the rules when you created your user id.

These are two examples from this week alone of what could go in a "Meets" type section

              https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...66073&uid=9027

I'd also love to have a chapter section for the chapter members to chat and potentially help each other out informally. I'd happily lend some specialized tools (cherry picker, leak-down tester, etc.) to people from my chapter, but meetings are so infrequent and not well attended that I think this would get a better response.

Rob, I like the idea of an events section as well as the local chapter sections. As Joel points out there are plenty of relevant posts on this board that are not of a technical nature. Moving them to their own section will only improve the readability of the technical section.

I also agree that there are plenty of other places to have off-topic conversations. If I need a Corvette-owner's perspective on global warming or the legitimacy of Obama's birth certificate I'll log on to CF.

Because this is a closed site I don't think we will have a lot of personal pissing matches. I would trust our members are better than some of the people on other sites. As for remembering I think most would but after a few cocktails some might have wished that they had not drank & typed & then they can't remember what it was that they were supposed to remember

I really do enjoy things just the way they are thanks.
I'm of the opinion that the existing format is very fraternal and all inclusive which I think is vital. Iwouldn't like to see us splitting into different groups and possibly deteriorating into various "cliques".

                    Best regards to all,

                      Re: New forum area?

                      My 2 cents......

This is the best forum out there just the way it is as long as all you are looking for it sound and accurate technical advice....which I guess is all that it was intended to be.

However it is a pretty "cold" site because there is no room for anything other than technical discussions. For this reason I think a general forum would benefit us especialy with some of the newer members that want to get to know some of us. Another benefit would in fact be a classifieds section. Actually this is the only forum that I frequent that doesn't have a general or classifieds section which is odd because of how great the technical section is. It's the best in one area but fails miserably in being a complete one stop forum. If I need any parts I use Corvette Forum for thier classifieds and have bought several items off of there. The Driveline is just okay because the ads submitted are about two months old before being printed. During that time the item may or may not still be available. Also, if it's a want ad chances are that you can't wait the two months it takes for the ad to come out in print. Then if the ad has an error there is nothing that can be done about it until the next Driveline....

Like I said just my 2 cents....
