Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't "Keepin Track Of Vettes" the predecessor of "Vette" Magazine and not "Corvette fever"? Corvette Fever was the mag started by Terry Michaelis (sp) in the late 70's/early 80's, as I recall.

To each his own. Proves one thing that all that is written is not gospel, and that includes this very TBD (self included). About the only individual source I've found infallible is our own John Hinckley. Everything I have seen him comment on has been "spot on", and I admit I have questioned his advice sometimes and verified its correctness. You all should do likewise about any source (notice my new found southern drawel).

I still remember the first copy of Corvette Fever I saw in 1985 with a picture of a 1985 test run on a TPI Corvette. Wow what a nice shape and with a 350 Chev I was hooked so the next few years I bought all copies I could find of that mag, then it stopped. Corvettes were not real popular back then in Australia. So that was it for Corvette Fever.

Vette Magazine was started by Marty Schorr of Baldwin-Motion fame. The HQ was in Saddle Brook, New Jersey until the late 90s, maybe early 2000.

Corvette Fever originally came from Florida as a privately owned magazine. Now it's still in FL, but owned by a huge conglomerate - ironically the same one that owns Vette Magazine.

i began subscribing to Corvette Fever when jim prather was editor/owner, back in the 70's . it was printed on a couple sheets of paper. it was then THE best source of nos and used vette parts and used vettes. i watched it deteriorate until cancelling my subscription a year or so ago. mike

I thought that Prather started Vette Vues, not Corvette Fever?

Or, possibly I should say that I know he started Vette Vues; did he start Corvette Fever too or is the other good Dr mixed up on his magazines?

pat; you are correct. prather started vet vues and my comments relate to vet vues, not corvette fever. sorry, dementia is closing in .mike

I myself, like many who have answered found the magazine moving towards most articles concerned with modifieds and at first chance failed to renew.

I would sure love to see the contents of the column and the exchanges before I make any judgements. I have on a number of instances read those of interest incuding responses to my own "Letters to the Editor" where it was obvious we had a "generation disconnect". The new breed think they know it all right out of school and don't have to consider the opinion of those of us who have years of experience and knowledge to draw on. They tend to be quite nasty and condescending, but I don't hold it against the value of the entire publication. That is something like "cutting off your nose to spite your face". As for me with "Vette" magazine - the decision to let my subscription expire did not come easy. They have been the source a lot of information and interesting reading in the past, but when you go month after many months of paging through each new issue and finding nothing to make you want to revisit it, rather it just goes in a pile on the shelf, then it is time to pull the plug and save some money.

Here's a link to the article in CF. It's a puff piece on a fuel saving device called the Tornado. CF claimed their testing revealed increased performance and a 20% increase in fuel economy. However, their test was completely unscientific and seriously flawed. The manufacturer claims of this device have been debunked many times by Popular Mechanics among others. Products like these defraud consumers with false claims and CF's endorsement of the product was a disservice to their readers.

Pure, absolute B.S. I can't believe anyone that can even spell "car" would endorse that POS. Carrol Shelby has been endorsing some sort of additive that has the same claims. It's embarrassing what some will do for the all mighty advertising dollar (can anyone say "Goat Hill Classics and the NCRS?)

Perhaps CF mgmt. had a weak moment and jumped in bed with J.C. Whitney (can't spell their other name and wouldn't want to insult my Polish friends). That is a pretty poor piece. It's a sham for anyone to endorse such junk and then still expect to retain their credibility. I'm embarrased on their behalf.

My Dad ordered me a charter member subscription the first year it came out - primarily because at the time he thought I had the "fever" , but no hope for a Corvette. He did it as a joke. Little did he know.

That was about 8 Corvettes and 26 years ago. Somewhere around here I have issue Vol. 1, No. 1. (seems around 1980 or so).
