Tar on upper evaporator tube for '67

Any idea who sells the thick "tar" like substance on the upper evap tube?

It's the insulation that covers the expansion tube.......

I just started looking around and haven't seen anything. Searches on NCRS didn't turn up anything.......at least what I was searching with so far.

    Thanks for any help, Bob

Also available in good auto parts stores in a blister-pack under the "Motormite" brand, #34312 "Cool-Aid" Insulation Tape, 2" x 12".

I purchased this wrap at Dr. Rebuild. They also have the gaskets, seals etc. for the A/C units.
I believe they advertise in the Driveline.

Thanks for the tips ! Forgot about them.

As John noted Motormite sells this tape. Motormite is owned by Dorman. Our local NAPA dealer couldn't special order the tape, but I'll check with
Autozone, since they sell alot of Dorman products.

I'm looking for Dr. Rebuild as I type this ! Appreciate the tip.

Go to any heating and air conditioning supply house. I found it in big 12" x 12" pieces. Was able to better make it look like factory than the auto parts houses that sell it in long thin strips.

                  Mike,

I tried the AC Delco number, but nothing comes up......called my GM dealer too.

Any idea how old the p/n is? Or what GM uses or calls the stuff?

My parts guys aren't big on searching.

I have a HVAC place down the road, so I guess I can look there too. Never thought it was used in the HVAC world, but probably used just the way we use it on Corvettes.....

Try any of the big box hardware stores, they stock the correct stuff & it's cheap!

A couple of other sources: Napa #20-9535. Also NRP(national refrigeration products) #NRP-1. Both call it "cork insulation tape".

NAPA did locate it, Part Number TEM 209491. Roll is $20 bucks.

                        Thanks for all the replies.
